Other Methods Of Treatment After Prostate Cancer
Brachytherapy and external beam reduction are also effective treatments after prostate cancer operation. These treatments do not come without side effects, however.
During brachytherapy, 100 small radioactive seeds are implanted by an oncologist into the prostate. Brachytherapy patients have some problems with urinary voiding.
External beam radiation sends more radiation to the prostate and less radiation to the rectum and bladder.
Both procedures are performed by a radiation oncologist and sometimes are done in combination. Whenever combined they are done by using removable catheters. These techniques are successful after prostate cancer following early detection.
