The Peritoneal Mesothelioma is one of the two forms of Mesothelioma, one of the dreaded types of lung cancer. It is known to affect the peritoneum or the abdominal lining which has two layers. The outer layer of the peritoneum is adjacent the abdominal wall. The inner layer on the other hand lines the abdominal organs.

The Peritoneal Mesothelioma thickens the membranes of the cavity and causes some fluid collection in the abdomen. This type of fluid collection is known as ascites and it results in the swelling of abdomen swells.

The Peritoneal Mesothelioma is a less common type of mesothelioma.
