Watching prostate cancer
While doctors call it watchful waiting, it is best suited for men with a 10-year life expectancy or less who have a low Gleason number and whose tumor has not spread beyond the prostate. The idea is that in the cancer is growing so slowly, they likely won’t die from it. While doctors have several ways to treat prostate cancer, the choice depends on many factors, such as whether or not the cancer has spread beyond the prostate, the patient’s age and general wellbeing, and how the patient feels about the treatment options and their potential side effects.
