In Spite of Surgery
When diagnosed by the specialist as a cancer patient, the patient elected to have the tumor removed surgically and to receive an intense bout of chemotherapy for the next 15 months. A man of tremendous fortitude, he would perform an operation, go upstairs for his own chemo, then come back down and scrub for another operation.
Fair sincerely believed that between cutting-edge medical treatment and his own strength of will, he was on the road to recovery. But three years later, a follow-up CAT scan showed a recurrence of the disease, this time near the liver, and the doctor-turned-patient was, in his own words, “emotionally shattered.” This time he opted for herbal body cleansing in spite of surgery.
