To be free of any form of heart disease, the only preventive measure that you can take is to follow a healthy heart diet. Read up on reviews and articles and include foods that are heart friendly. On the whole, try and cut down on as much fat as possible, keep away from animal fats especially, take up walking as a form of exercise, form regular eating habits while including a lot of fruits and green leafy vegetables. A healthy heart diet would be that which is low in sodium and high in fiber and monounsaturated fatty acids.
