Is the Lap-Band Secure Following Surgery?

LapBand surgery  can involve the band slipping.  The band can automatically start to move down on the stomach as a person begins to lose weight.  This complication can cause vomiting or heartburn.  In rare cases, the band can gradually eat into the inside lining of the stomach.  The access port or the band may leak.  If this occurs, the band could require replacement.  There is not much risk of dying following Lap-Band surgery, unless a heart attack occurs or blood clot develops.
