The High Cost of Storing Cord Blood
It is quite costly to store your baby’s cord blood. Many parents that can afford it, are choosing to preserve their baby’s cord blood in the hopes of that if it is ever needed by any of their children, it will be available. Umbilical Stem Cells are not sufficient enough to be used for anyone except a child. Also, if your child were to become terminally ill and in need of their stem cells while they are very young, there is no evidence to support that the same disease would not reoccur. So much is unknown about stem cells and the procedure is not well known by doctors. It is up to you if you choose to save your baby’s cord blood in the hope that research will develop ways to use it better in the future.
